Loach Cookery Developed in DPRK

 

Pyongyang, November 5 (KCNA) -- Loach is known as "insam in water" among the people of the DPRK since it contains various nutritive and pharmacological components.



In recent years, public catering establishments across the country have been serving various loach dishes good for improving human health.

A national loach dish contest was held on October 29-31, which showed the rapid development of loach cookery. On display there were many loach dishes like loach soups peculiar to localities.

The Changgwang Public Service Management Bureau presented 10 kinds of dishes, including loach soup mixed with bean curd and mushroom and steamed soft bean curd with loach, to take the first place at the contest, following in 2017.

In an interview with KCNA, Kim Kum Ok, an official of the bureau, said that the bureau built a loach farm and invented a number of appetitive loach dishes.

The Kaesong City Public Catering Establishment presented such dishes as famous Kaesong loach soup, cold jelly combined with loach, insam and dasheen and roasted loach with dasheen.

According to an official of the Central Committee of the Korean Association of Cooks, public catering establishments across the country have competed with each other for improving the quality of loach dishes.
