Sci-tech Presentation in Field of Disaster Control Held in DPRK​

Pyongyang, November 18 (KCNA) -- A national sci-tech presentation in the field of disaster control took place at the Grand People's Study House here from November 14 to 17 under the sponsorship of the Korean Disaster Control Association of the C.C., General Federation of Science and Technology of Korea.

Attending the presentation, held on the theme of "Increasing the ability to reduce the danger of natural disaster and cope with crisis", were officials, teachers, researchers and graduate students from more than 10 units, including Kim Il Sung University, Pyongyang University of Architecture, the State Academy of Sciences, the State Hydro-meteorological Administration, the Ministry of Land and Environment Protection, the Ministry of Urban Management and the Ministry of Electric Power Industry.

The presentation heard valuable papers dealing with the urgent measures for laying the material and technical foundations to minimize and promptly recover from natural disasters such as typhoon, flood, drought and earthquake.

During the presentation, there was a lecture on the forecast of disastrous abnormal weather, the world trend of disaster control and the advantages and prospects of the state integrated disaster control system.
