Efforts for Completing Irrigation System of Dry-fields in DPRK
Pyongyang, May 24 (KCNA) -- A campaign for completing the irrigation system on dry-fields is more vigorously conducted in different parts of the DPRK, true to the resolutions of a plenary meeting of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.
Thousands of water pumping stations were newly built across the country. And the work for installing pipelines and providing necessary pumping facilities has been accelerated.
Officials in South Hwanghae Province direct efforts to solving unfinished issues arising in perfecting the irrigation system for dry-fields, mindful of the importance and significance of its completion in increasing the grain production.
South Phyongan Province has concentrated efforts on ensuring the normal operation of existing pumping equipment.
Jagang Province is stepping up the work to ensure effective wheat, barley, potato and maize farming with help of irrigation method suited to the regional specific conditions.
Similar movements are made in other regions of the country, too.
