Measures for Ensuring Safety of Railways Taken in DPRK
Pyongyang, January 24 (KCNA) -- True to the important tasks set forth at the Sixth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, the railway transport sector in the DPRK has taken measures for ensuring the safety of the railways.
The Ministry of Railways is concentrating efforts on replacing all the sleepers in the defective railway sections and increasing the standard railway sections by boosting the production of concrete sleepers and railway fixtures.
Rahung and Sungho concrete sleeper factories and concrete sleeper production units of different railway bureaus are striving to carry out the quotas for producing sleepers planned for this year by directing efforts to the management of equipment and technical control.
The Kim Jong Thae Electric Locomotive Complex, the Wonsan Rolling-Stock Factory and other railway transport factories and enterprises are stepping up the work to consolidate the material and technical foundations for the production of spare parts needed for repairing locomotives and maintaining passenger and freight cars.
