Research Success for Turf Cultivation Made​

Pyongyang, September 30 (KCNA) -- The Pyongyang Turf Institute in the DPRK intensifies the research on breeding good species of turf and putting its cultivation on a scientific basis of high level.

On September 30, Juche 101 (2012), the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un made public his celebrated work "Let Us Make the Streets and Villages Green by Planting and Growing Good Species of Turf Extensively", an important guideline that brought about a new turn in turf research and cultivation.

Over the past ten years, the institute has registered 20-odd new species of turf as state ones and achieved successes in the research on nutrient solution and compound fertilizer needed for the cultivation and management of turfs.

The institute is now focusing on the development of new species of turf, which is evergreen and of high ornamental value, while carrying on the research to extend the greening period of Zoysia tenuifolia and enhancing its ornamental value.

It laid a foundation for mass-producing new compound fertilizer with seaweeds as raw materials and nutrient solution with Azolla filliculoidas.

The institute has conducted the work for generalizing the latest sci-tech data throughout the country.
