New Vegetable Species and Cultivation Technologies Introduced in DPRK
Pyongyang, September 21 (KCNA) -- The Pyongyang Vegetable Science Institute of the Academy of Agricultural Science in the DPRK has registered at least 70 species of vegetables as national species and established new cultivation technologies over the past 10 years.

Officials, researchers and cultivators of the institute succeeded in acclimatizing various species of functional vegetables to our country.
With the help of bioengineering, its research group bred vegetable species, which are short in breeding period, rich in vitamin, carbohydrate, mineral matter and others and high in productivity. It also gained hundreds of pieces of research achievements including the nutrition diagnostic technology.
This year alone, officials and researchers of the institute settled many sci-tech problems arising in building dozens of greenhouses and helped take such practical measures necessary for vegetable production at the Jungphyong Greenhouse Farm and the Ryonpho Greenhouse Farm under construction as supply of equipment and seeds.
The institute has also pushed forward with the work to disseminate scientific and technological knowledge on vegetable cultivation.
