West Sea Barrage in DPRK
Pyongyang, June 24 (KCNA) -- President
The President set the position of the barrage aboard a ship on May 22, Juche 70 (1981) and opened up bright prospects for concluding the project successfully.
Chairman
Under the wise leadership of the peerlessly great men, soldiers of the People's Army and builders wrought a miracle of completing the project, which had been alleged to take 20 years, within five years.
The West Sea Barrage has contributed to promoting foreign trade, marine transport, motor transport and development of electric power industry, ensuring the full provision of irrigation, industrial and domestic water in the west coastal area of the country and protecting the city of Pyongyang from flood damage by controlling water level of the Taedong River for decades.
The 8 kilometer-long barrage, wonderfully built across rough sea, is a monumental edifice in the era of the Workers' Party produced by the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance and fortitude of the army and people of the DPRK.
