Day of Shining Star Marked Abroad
Pyongyang, February 22 (KCNA) -- Celebrations took place in Russia, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Iceland and Finland from Feb. 10 to 15 on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il (Day of the Shining Star).
Attending the celebrations were personages of political parties and organizations and masses in those countries.
The chairman of the Ostfold County Committee of the Communist Party of Norway and the international secretary of the Finnish Communists' League praised Kim Jong Il as a great thinker and theoretician who enriched the immortal Juche idea, defender of justice who saved the destiny of socialism with his unique Songun politics, genuine popular leader who devoted himself to the wellbeing of people, and father of the nation who made an enormous contribution to accomplishing the cause of national reunification.
The chairman of the Denmark-DPRK Friendship Association and the chairman of the Sweden-Korea Friendship Association lauded the sacred life of Kim Jong Il, who devoted himself to the happiness of the people while always giving top priority to their interests during the whole period of leading the revolution.
The chairperson of the Iceland-DPRK Cultural and Friendly Society said that Kim Jong Il was a great revolutionary who dedicated his all to the prosperity of socialist Korea, reunification of the country and cause of global independence.
The chairperson of the Russian Association for the Study of the Juche Idea stressed that Kim Jong Il, at a time when the imperialists had reached an extreme in their moves to stifle the DPRK, put forward the People's Army as the main force of the revolution to work world-startling miracles in all fields of socialist construction.
Congratulatory messages to the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un were adopted at the celebrations held in Norway, Sweden and Finland.
Meanwhile, the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and the Group for International Solidarity with the DPRK sponsored celebrations on Feb. 10 and 12.
