The Korean nation made the metal type for the first time in the world in the first half of the 12th century and developed the typography.

The fact that Korea is a metal type inventor is well known through historical data and the oldest matter printed with metal types.

The oldest book printed with metal types in the world is the book "Jikjisimgyong" published by Koryo in 1377.

The book was on display at the exhibition of "History of Books" held in Paris of France under the sponsorship of UNESCO in Juche 61 (1972) as an event of "International Year of Books". And it was estimated there to be the oldest among the existing publications printed with metal types in the world and was reported to different countries.
