Revolutionary Turn Made in Educational Work of DPRK


Pyongyang, January 13 (KCNA) -- A revolutionary turn has been brought in the educational work of the DPRK, thanks to the Workers' Party of Korea's idea of attaching importance to education.

The quality of education improved onto a new higher level and other successes were registered in the field of education.

The credit for such precious results goes to the wise guidance of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who raised the flame of bringing about a radical improvement in education in the new century for the past ten years, with his far-reaching intention to turn our country into a world-level educational power and a power of talents.

The respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un published famous works including "On Improving Secondary General Education" and "Teachers Should Fulfill Their Duty as Career Revolutionaries in Implementing the Party's Policy on Bringing About a Radical Turn in Education" to show the road ahead of the Juche-oriented education in the 21st century.

He made sure that the 6th Session of the 12th Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK in September Juche 101 (2012) promulgated an ordinance on enforcing the universal 12-year compulsory education.

He led the work for bringing about a radical turn in education to fundamentally improve the overall work of education including the educational system of the country, the guidance over education and the educational conditions and environment.

Inspecting Pyongyang Teachers Training College and Pyongyang Primary School for Orphans, he taught how to raise the teachers' qualifications and improve the contents, forms and methods of education.

He visited an ordinary teacher's family, when it moved into a new house in Changjon Street, to show warm love and provided teachers of Kim Il Sung University and Kim Chaek University of Technology with excellent houses. He also called teachers, who volunteered to work at branch schools on islands and at schools in forefront areas and mountain villages, to the capital city of Pyongyang to bestow loving care and benevolence on them.

The educators in the country are now filled with the resolve to contribute to developing our education into the one capable of shouldering the destiny of the country in the future by carrying through the tasks set forth at the 4th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.
